Langollen A5 as it used to lookhe greatest period of expansion for the town of Llangollen was during the reign of Queen Victoria. The construction of Thomas Telford's Holyhead Road (now a historic highway otherwise known as the A5 trunk road) proved to be the catalyst for this, helping to cause the population rise from that of a small Welsh village to that of a town in a very short period of time.

Llangollen canalther forms of transport also aided in this growth.
