It should perhaps be fitting that one of the UKs premier gardening events should be held at the home of the
Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod.
It is now over 60 years since the International Eisteddfod first hit the world stage but it was a problem with the event stage that set the tone for what is now a true floral tradition.
The original organisers felt the first ever stage in 1947 was a 'little bland' and decided to brighten it up with some locally grown flowers, mostly in jam jars, on the piano and the stage edge.
This small act blossomed into one of the most intricate and spectacular floral displays anywhere and a real highlight of the International Eisteddfod stage each year and all from the gardens of Llangollen!
Similarly, The Gardening Show has developed a reputation of excellence in its horticultural displays as well as stylish outdoor living to boot.
The show, which will be run over the weekend of 7th and 8th June in 2008, will turn the home of the International Eisteddfod into an explosion of colour and vibrancy, one month before the main event!
Rapidly becoming known as the The Garden Party of the Year, anybody who is anybody within the green fingered world is now making a beeline for Llangollen to be a part of this gardening extravaganza.
Some of the best, and most popular, nurseries and exhibitors within the industry ensure a day out to this spectacular show is one to remember.
The field is crammed full of show gardens, many designed and created especially for Llangollen, by the very best Welsh designers, societies and colleges.
But its not just plants as further exhibitors give the opportunity to find that perfect sundry item that will help set off your own garden, such as quality garden furniture or even that stylish garden shed!
National and local experts give a series of fascinating talks and presentations over the weekend, with visitors also able to get involved in a number of workshops and educational areas.
Oh, and the Llangollen gardening tradition is still well represented with the Llangollen and District Gardening Club having their own dedicated marquee housing their superb Open Show!
